This design is quite rare ( presumably wasn't a big seller at the time) and is very similar to Mr. Mouth / Gobble. It's also quite a "clumsy" design - it seems to be somehow slightly different. I haven't seen a Japanese version of this and so, for now, my hunch is that this was never released in Japan and was a US-only release for some reason..
